Project 2: Documentation of a Medium Sized Project

Tasks:

Your task is to document your own Design Studio Project from the point of view of a Project Manager. Document (Written report, annotated visual images) will be in 4 Components in total:

  1. Introduction of Project (Identifying clients, stakeholders, objectives and goals)
  2. Design Analysis, picking up issues of Design Suitability and Project Viability and specifically related to your design. (Note: This is to be in essay format, schematic diagrams, sketches and drawing where necessary).
  3. Risk Analysis, and Maintenance Strategy (to achieve the identified success criteria and project deliverables). This must be in a table format.
  4. Success Criteria, WBS, Gantt Chart (showing the measurable success criteria for the overall implementation strategy, analysis of critical paths, floats, plotted against time). This chart will highlight Project Deliverables

Reflection:

After the first project, this project acts a bridge to apply our knowledge from the first project to our own detailed design in align with Studio VI project. It is useful in terms of considering the practicality part of our design, how could it possibly contribute to the community, how was it considered from the schematic design part towards the final executing part. Understanding project management techniques are crucial in the control and direction of project resources, it also helps us to evaluate the dynamic changes which occur during a project’s life cycle and the nature of a project’s success. Therefore success or failure of execution of a project lies in the hand of a project manager, it is important for an architect to understand the practical part of their design.
