Each of you will work closely with your team members to produce outcomes as below based on your site visit and knowledge.
(1) Reflective essay based on an environmental topic selected from your text book
(2) EnvironmentalPoster
The reflective essay and environmental poster will be a based on your observation and interpretation of specific environmental concerns from the site visit. The essay CAN or MUST be accompanied by original photographs. You are also required to include APA referencing at the end of the report.
(1) Nature & Us: Reflective Essay:
You will be exploring and writing on environmental issues relating it to the people and built environment. Drawing inspiration from the activities carried out during your site exploration, your reflective essay must examine and observe the progress of your individual experience.
It is completely acceptable to use first person pronouns such as “I” or “me” in this essay. Since the reflective essay is built upon personal experience and knowledge gained, you have the liberty of being as creative as necessary. At the same time, do not let a focus on creativity take precedence over the important task of proving to your reader how you have grown to understand the fine balance between nature and us.
Guideline to write a reflective essay: Introduction
- Does not need to be longer than one paragraph in length. When writing an introduction, present the purpose of your reflection without giving your reader too much detail about the body of your essay.
- Think of the introduction as a brief preview to the rest of your reflection. Body
- Detail your understanding of environmental issues and appreciation of nature during the site visit, and reading.
- What have you learned? Can you apply what you have learned to your future academic or life pursuits? How did you or did you not meet your goals or the goals of the class/project you were involved in? This is slightly different from what you should discuss in your introduction. Do not just tell the reader whether or not you met these goals. Rather, show the reader by using original photographs taken from the site.
Conclusion
In the conclusion of a reflective essay, you should remind the reader of the ways in which you have gained understanding. This may seem redundant since you already discussed these things in detail in your essay’s body, but remember that the conclusion is the last thing your audience will read. As a result, leave no doubt in the reader’s mind that your essay clearly demonstrates how you have grown
2) Nature and Us Environmental Poster
You are to produce an A1 size colored poster suitable for exhibition on creating environmental awareness in general public. Ides, images and content for your poster should be able to be linked to your exploration on the environmental issues and reflection. Poster MUST be creative, original and have strong environmental message.

Reflection:
Environment sustainable design was a really new subject to me as I did not really think back to environment sustainability when it comes to design, we only think about brief site context for the previous semester work, now when it comes to higher semester we need to be more considerate about architecture built.
In a group of four, we decided on doing land use planning which seems more interesting and close to recent issue. Our tutor, Ms. Salvi gave us a lot of information based on our topic and helped us along with all the data researching which we were still unfamiliar with. This project actually helped us to develop our researching skill, collecting and analyzing all the data then understand the issues and solutions for our topic so that we can relate all this back together.
We collaborated well throughout the whole project, we had discussions on analyzing our data and compile everything together so that it does look like something from a group not few single individuals.
