Reflection:
In a group of five, which members are Sharon, Angoline, Chiew Nee, Jiayi and me, we chose Mies Van der Rohe famous Barcelona Pavilion, Spain to study for our fist project in studio II. Throughout the whole project, we managed to study the buildings with all sorts of reference from books, journals and internet.
To perfectly understand the concepts and ideas from the architect's perspective, we need to figure out every single detail available in the building, every single entity should not be ignored. We first understand the building the figure out the keywords for it. These models are made through trial and error which can represent the concepts most based on the study we had done.We collaborated well giving out ideas, diving our part to progress to our final models and boards.
This project let me understand precedent study is really important to actually understand how architecture works as well as how design should start based on how a master architect previously did. This helps a lot in my future design progress, how I should start and know where to develop from.
