Task:
Design Guidelines:
- RESEARCH ON ANTROPOMETRICS, ERGONOMICS & OTHERS
- CHOOSE A CLIENT (INDIVIDUAL; ADULT, YOU, YOUR FRIEND, FAMILY MEMBER, LECTURER, OTHERS)
- CLIENT PROFLE & NARRATIVE (PROFESSION, NEEDS, WANTS, DESIRES, ACTIVITIES & OTHERS)
- TRANSLATE TO SPATIAL REQUIREMENTS (EX: DESIGNERS: NEEDS AREA TO DRAW, USE COMPUTER, STORE BOOKS, OTHERS)
- EXECUTE DESIGN & PROJECT REQUIREMENTS (REFER RO PROJECT REQUIREMENTS PAGE 2)
- 1:1 MODEL INSTALLATION (CARDBOARD OR ANY OTHER TYPES OF BOARDS AND PAPER, TRANSPARENCIES & TRANSLUCENT MATERIALS)
Design Guidelines:
- Maximum dimension of capsule shall not exceed12.50 cu.mts.
- ‘Life Capsule’ will be used for single occupancy only and for duration of 24 hours
- Space should be multifunctional wherein it should contain the various need and desires of the user.
- Group is allowed to create an ideal imaginary site where the ‘Life Capsule’ will be situated. (On top of the hill, floating in water, in the middle of the jungle, underground and etc).
- Life Capsule should consider light, ventilation, and enclosure.
- A re-conceptualization of furniture and fixtures are necessary and essential since traditional furniture dimensions may not fit such limited space. Spatial elements can me more flexible, multi-purpose and multi-functional.
- How does the body shape the space? and how does the space dictate the body movement?
Reflection:
This project required us to build a 1:1 scaled model, in a group of five, we managed our time and utilized it fully for the design process and also model making.
Teamwork is rather important because it won’t be done without any of us, each of us have our own parts to handle. It was the most time consuming project since it’s huge and required a lot of calculations to build up a real thing. We still manage to handle all these calculations for the circles and interlocking parts.
