Students are required to design and build TWO cubes:
- Paper Cube
- Wood Cube

Selecting one of the following materials:
paper
cardstock chipboard corrugated cardboard paper tubes homosote ..... or anything that can be categorised as PAPER |
Select one of the following materials:
Balsa wood
plywood MDF Masonite ...or just about anything that is WOOD |
The cube should be produced with this one material and a fastening system [glue, nails, screw, rope etc.] at the
student’s discretion.
The function of the cube is to define the volume of a 12”x12”x12” inch space. This does not mean to fill or to entirely engulf the volume simply define it.

After working on both of the cubes, I realized we are required to understand

Reflection:
After working on both of the cubes, I realized we are required to understand
- How to work with a material
- How to turn a corner
- How to join materials
- How to express a material
- How the intrinsic forms, limitations and boundaries of a material factor in a design process
I interpret the idea of space into both the materials cube, it is very important to relate space with both the materials. I improved my skill on making models and doing design narratives for my boards, since it's really crucial for an architect to express his/her own design using words and also diagrams, this will help in my future career.
