A. On-line Group Forum (10%) (Individual-80% and Group-20% Assessment)
On-line group forum is used in this exercise as an effective virtual learning discussion platform for students to work as a team to help each other in exploring the precedent studies of a chosen building with cultural, historical and architectural significances.
Through the active on-line discussion forum, students even outside class session will be able to exchange
views, share and debate the knowledge derived from the precedent studies to best grasp as well as to
encourage a comprehensive analysis of the underlying conceptual ideas of the building. This on-line forum
discussion will also prepare them for their verbal presentation during Studio critic session.
The study of precedent required students to gather architectural information, so that they truly appreciate the essence of the building; have in-depth understanding of the building systems at work, as well as recognize the series of important elements that realize design aspects of the building.
Task:
In a group of 5, we are required to answer the questions listed below. All answers must be posted in TIMES Wiki Space in the form of:

Task:
In a group of 5, we are required to answer the questions listed below. All answers must be posted in TIMES Wiki Space in the form of:
- clear and legible scanned annotated sketches
- short brief /write-up.
Brief General/Background Questions:
- Who is the architect or founder of the building?
- Where and when was the building built?
- What is the form, or shape of the building?
- What is the function or purpose of the building?
- What materials / methods are used for construction?
- What makes your building historically significant / meaningful?
Reflection:
My group was assigned to do more research on St. Peter's Basilica, in a group of five, each of us choose one questions to be further research on. I was assigned to do question one and two which is architects and time of the basilica was built, since both the questions are the basic information of basilica.
For this assignment, I fully utilize the internet and also information from books to finalize the information for the forum. It taught us to make full use of a forum to provide information and discuss about questions of the building given.
It also sharpen my skill on sketching because there are diagrams like floor plan, site plans, drawings of building, etc need to be drawn to relate to the information found to strengthen the information.
It also shows the teamwork between the members since the forum needs a lot of help from each other, since all the questions are all about the building assigned, so you probably will find something unrelated with your question but for others, when you found information, you share with the others.
Overall for this assignment, I gained a lot of knowledge about the renaissance and baroque architecture, and also information specifically about St Peter's Basilica.
